City of Tuscaloosa to Hold Celebration for WBC Champion, Tuscaloosa Native Deontay Wilder Saturday, Jan. 24

Tuscaloosa, Ala. – The City of Tuscaloosa will hold a parade and celebration for World Boxing Council heavyweight champion and Tuscaloosa resident Deontay “Bronze Bomber” Wilder on Saturday, Jan. 24.
The parade will start at 2 p.m. on Greensboro Avenue at 13th Street. The procession will travel north to the Tuscaloosa Amphitheater. Parade viewers are invited to follow the parade in procession to the Amphitheater.
At 2:45 p.m. there will be a celebration in the Amphitheater to commemorate Wilder. Gates will open at 2 p.m. No outside food or beverage is allowed inside the Amphitheater, but may be purchased from the concession stands on the west plaza.
Joining Wilder in the parade are Team Wilder members Jay Deas and Damarius Hills, Tim Mitchell of Skyy Gym, Skyy Boxing Golden Glove Fighters and Future Champions Thomas Knox, Deon Nicholson, KeEric Hinton and Andre Harris and the Central High School marching band, cheerleaders and JROTC.
Free parking is available in the City's intermodal facility at 23rd Avenue and 7th Street. After the celebration, buses will run from the Amphitheater to the intermodal facility.
The events are free and open to the public.
Jack Warner Parkway from 28th Avenue to Greensboro Avenue will close at 1:30 p.m. until the conclusion of the Amphitheater event. Greensboro Avenue from 14th Street to Jack Warner Parkway will close at 1:50 p.m. for the duration of the parade.
