Moody's, Standard & Poor's Affirm Strong Ratings for Tuscaloosa

Tuscaloosa, Ala.
The credit rating agencies Moody's Investor Service and Standard & Poor's Ratings Service recently affirmed the City of Tuscaloosa's Aa1 and AA+ ratings, respectively.Moody's noted the City's sizable, diverse and stable tax base, healthy reserve levels and low debt per capita in their rationale. S&P's viewed the City of Tuscaloosa as having strong management and budgetary flexibility.Both agencies upgraded the City to the current standings in 2012.“From having to cash flow tens of millions of dollars in the wake of April 27th without borrowing a dime while weathering the great recession, this City, our leaders and our staff have continued best financial practices, which have kept our finances strong,“ said Tuscaloosa Mayor Walter Maddox.For the full reports, click here for S&P's and here for Moody's.
