City of Tuscaloosa to Host USA Triathlon's Collegiate Club and High School National Championships

Tuscaloosa, Ala -- The City of Tuscaloosa will host the USA Triathlon’s Collegiate Club and High School National Championships on Friday, April 21 and Saturday, April 22 around the City. Top collegiate triathletes from across the country will be traveling to Tuscaloosa to compete in the race.  

Due to this event, certain roads and areas will be closed. 

The event centers around the Tuscaloosa Amphitheater. The swim will take place in the Black Warrior River, the run route will travel down the Tuscaloosa RiverWalk and the bike route will largely be contained on Jack Warner Parkway and Paul Bryant Bridge, up to the intersection of Rice Mine Road NE. 

On Friday, April 21 racing will begin at 8:15 a.m. with roads closing at 6 a.m. and re-opening at around 2 p.m. On Saturday, April 22 racing will begin at 7:30 a.m. Roads will close at 5 a.m. and re-open at around 6 p.m. On both days, there will be full and complete road closures which may require detours and delays. Drive with caution in all affected areas. 

The following roads will be closed on Friday, April 21 from 6 a.m. to 2 p.m.:

Jack Warner Parkway from 28th Ave. to McFarland Blvd.On and off ramps at McFarland Blvd. and Jack Warner Parkway. 28th Avenue from Jack Warner Parkway to University Blvd.Tuscaloosa Riverwalk from Tuscaloosa Amphitheater to the River Market.

The following roads will be closed on Saturday, April 22 from 5 a.m. to 6 p.m.: 

Jack Warner Parkway from 28th Ave. to Crescent Ridge Road.On and off ramps at McFarland Blvd. and Jack Warner Parkway.Paul Bryant Bridge from Jack Warner Parkway to Rice Mine Road NE.Tuscaloosa Riverwalk from Tuscaloosa Amphitheater to the Boathouse at Manderson Landing.

Local accommodations and police escort systems will be in place for those needing access to businesses and residences along or on the river side of Jack Warner Parkway via Greensboro Ave., 21st Ave., Queen City Ave., and Guildswood Drive.
