The 2nd Annual Tuscaloosa Regional Airport Airshow will be held May 8th & 9th. The Airshow will feature the US Navy Blue Angels & Army Golden Knights. The event will be free to the public, however reserved seating is available for purchase.

As an Entitlement City under the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) and the Home Investment Partnership (HOME) Programs, funded through the U.S. Department of Housing & Urban Development (HUD), the City of Tuscaloosa is required to prepare a Consolidated Plan for each five-year time period. The City of Tuscaloosa’s Consolidated Plan for Community Planning & Development Programs for Program Years 2010-2014 is a comprehensive planning document that identifies housing and non-housing community development needs for low-income persons, prioritizes those needs and sets forth a strategy for addressing those needs during a five-year period beginning on April 1, 2010 and ending on March 31, 2014. The Consolidated Plan is the City’s guide for the provision of decent housing, a suitable living environment and economic opportunities for its citizens, principally those of low and moderate-income. The City officially broke ground on the Amphitheater on July 14, 2009. The site, located on Jack Warner Pkwy,just west of the Hugh Thomas Bridge is scheduled to open in fall 2010.

January 26, 2010 MEDIA RELEASE FROM THE OFFICE OF THE CITY ENGINEER DOWNTOWN URBAN REDEVELOPMENT PROJECT WORK ZONE TRAFFIC CONTROL ANNOUNCEMENTS The Office of the City Engineer advises that the City’s contractor, GFC, has extended the closure of the intersection of 21st Avenue and 7th Street until Thursday, February 18, 2010, for continuing construction on the downtown project. They are also extending the closure of 7th Street from 21st to 22nd Avenue for this same time period. This extension is the result of the recent rainy weather and also waiting on some utility work to be completed. Please be mindful of these work zone traffic control changes during your daily travel.
January 26, 2010 MEDIA RELEASE FROM THE OFFICE OF THE CITY ENGINEER 5th AVENEUE EAST IMPROVEMENTS PROJECT WORK ZONE TRAFFIC CONTROL ANNOUNCEMENTS The Office of the City Engineer advises that the City’s contractor, Cornerstone Civil Contractors, has closed 5th Avenue East to through traffic between Hargrove Road and 23rd Street East until Monday, February 15, 2010, for total reconstruction of the roadway. However, the contractor will maintain limited access to all residences and businesses inside the road closure at all times. Please be mindful of these work zone traffic control changes during your daily travel.

The City of Tuscaloosa Department of Transportation advises that motorists should use extreme caution in the location of AL Hwy 69/Skyland Blvd (US 11S) intersection. This advisory is due to the installation of new traffic signals. The work zone area will consist of slow moving vehicles and personnel on the ground between the hours of 8:30 a.m. through 2:30 p.m. continuing through the end of March, 2010.
