Tuscaloosa Environmental Services to Stop Recycling Plastic Film

Due to processing regulations, the Tuscaloosa Environmental Services Department will no longer be able to recycle plastic film. This new policy will go into effect starting Monday, November 27.

Examples of plastic film include:

  • Grocery bags
  • Bread bags
  • Zip-top bags
  • Dry-cleaning bags
  • Cracker and cereal box liners
  • Wrap from household products like paper towels
  • Plastic shipping envelopes, bubble wrap and air pillows
The City of Tuscaloosa offers free curbside recycling that is collected on the same day as garbage pick-up. If you are unable to utilize curbside pick-up, the City of Tuscaloosa also offers over 10 drop-off locations.
