City of Tuscaloosa to Host Fourth Annual 'Tech-or-Treat' Event at Gateway Innovation and Discovery Center
September 23, 2019
The City of Tuscaloosa will host the fourth annual ‘Tech-or-Treat’ night on Thursday, Oct. 24 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Gateway Innovation and Discovery Center, located at 2614 University Blvd East.
Tech-or-Treat is a free community event for children and families. Similar to Trunk-or-Treat, in which children go from trunk to trunk collecting candy, at the City’s Tech or Treat, local children go from table to table collecting candy. At each table, children are introduced to science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) opportunities by interacting with City departments and community organizations.
Each participating organization hosts a table offering fun activities, candy, and tech-themed prizes to visitors in costumes. In previous years, the prizes have ranged from cell phone accessories to digital storage devices.
“We are very excited to host Tech-or-Treat again this year," Mayor Walt Maddox said. "It’s a festive, family-friendly event with an added bonus of introducing STEM opportunities to local children."
The event is free and open to all ages. Children must be accompanied by an adult.
