Tuscaloosa Fire Rescue
Since its beginning in 1878, the Tuscaloosa Fire Rescue has grown from one horse-drawn fire engine to 11 stations and more than 250 firefighters serving a metropolitan area of over 105,000 residents.
Today, department personnel protect life, property and the environment through direct involvement in fire prevention, firefighting, emergency medical care, water rescue, technical rescue, hazardous materials mitigation, code enforcement, disaster response, public education and community service.
