City of Tuscaloosa Expands Participation Options for Public Hearings
June 5, 2020
Tuscaloosa City Council and Council Committee meetings will now offer additional methods of public participation.
In an effort to reduce in-person gatherings to help prevent the spread of COVID-19, the City is expanding options to participate in public hearings from a distance.
Participation options include:
- Written comment – Residents can submit written comments in advance of any public hearing at Tuscaloosa.com/meetings. Written comments will be read into the record and the Council will have the opportunity to address each comment.
- By phone – Residents wishing to provide a comment by phone during a public hearing should make an appointment no later than 10 a.m. on the meeting day. Appointments can be made by email to firstname.lastname@example.org or at 205-248-5010.
- By video conference - Comments can also be provided by video conference by making an appointment no later than 10 a.m. on the meeting date. Appointments can be made by email to email@example.com or at 205-248-5010. Instructions on joining the meeting will be sent via email.
- In person – Comments may still be made in-person, but they now require an appointment and an appropriate face covering. Appointments can be made by email to firstname.lastname@example.org or at 205-248-5010, no later than 10 a.m. on the meeting date. Residents making in-person comments will wait in a designated area during the meeting, and enter Council Chambers when called to comment during the designated time.
All public meetings will be broadcast for viewing at Facebook.com/TuscaloosaCity and on Comcast Channel 20 and AT&T U-Verse Channel 99.
