City of Tuscaloosa Expands Participation Options for Public Hearings

Tuscaloosa City Council and Council Committee meetings will now offer additional methods of public participation.

In an effort to reduce in-person gatherings to help prevent the spread of COVID-19, the City is expanding options to participate in public hearings from a distance.

Participation options include:

  • Written comment – Residents can submit written comments in advance of any public hearing at Tuscaloosa.com/meetings. Written comments will be read into the record and the Council will have the opportunity to address each comment.
  • By phone – Residents wishing to provide a comment by phone during a public hearing should make an appointment no later than 10 a.m. on the meeting day. Appointments can be made by email to cityclerk@tuscaloosa.com or at 205-248-5010.
  • By video conference - Comments can also be provided by video conference by making an appointment no later than 10 a.m. on the meeting date. Appointments can be made by email to cityclerk@tuscaloosa.com or at 205-248-5010. Instructions on joining the meeting will be sent via email.
  • In person – Comments may still be made in-person, but they now require an appointment and an appropriate face covering. Appointments can be made by email to cityclerk@tuscaloosa.com or at 205-248-5010, no later than 10 a.m. on the meeting date. Residents making in-person comments will wait in a designated area during the meeting, and enter Council Chambers when called to comment during the designated time.

All public meetings will be broadcast for viewing at Facebook.com/TuscaloosaCity and on Comcast Channel 20 and AT&T U-Verse Channel 99.
