City of Tuscaloosa to host Framework Meetings

In light of COVID-19 and the cancellation of public hearings from March-May 2020, the Framework adoption process is being restarted.

In light of COVID-19 and the cancellation of public hearings from March-May 2020, the Framework adoption process is being restarted to accomplish the following:

  • Health and safety for the Commission members, public and staff
  • Re-education and familiarization with the Framework process
  • Integration of necessary changes caused by COVID-19 on land use, housing needs and economy
  • Open and transparent conversations regarding work that has been done

The City launched Framework to help define a long-term vision for Tuscaloosa by crafting a comprehensive plan as well as update their zoning and land development regulations. This plan will proactively address topics that are important to the community and help guide Tuscaloosa in the years to come.

In an effort to ensure transparency and community involvement, the following special called meetings will be held outside of the regularly scheduled Planning and Zoning Commission monthly meetings. All meetings will begin at 5 p.m. and will end promptly at 7 p.m. if they do not adjourn before. The City will broadcast all public meetings via PEG channel and virtual live-streams. All individuals wishing to observe meetings are encouraged to watch from home to reduce the number of people in the meeting room.
