Tuscaloosa Mayor Walt Maddox and Auburn Mayor Ron Anders Continue Annual Iron Bowl Wager Tradition

Tuscaloosa Mayor Walt Maddox and Auburn Mayor Ron Anders will continue their annual tradition of an Iron Bowl wager to benefit local charities.

When Auburn and The University of Alabama face off at Jordan-Hare Stadium on Saturday, Nov. 29, if Alabama wins, Anders will make a $100 donation to the Tuscaloosa Pre-K Initiative. If Auburn wins, Mayor Maddox will make a $100 donation to the Exceptional Foundation of East Alabama.

Mayor Maddox and former Auburn Mayor Bill Ham first made this friendly wager in 2005. Since 2005, Auburn has won the Iron Bowl seven times, and Alabama has won 13 times.

"Regardless of which team wins, I consider this a win-win for both Mayor Anders and I," Mayor Maddox said. "Both the Tuscaloosa Pre-K Initiative and the Exceptional Foundation of East Alabama are very important to our communities and I'm grateful to continue this wager. Best of luck to Mayor Anders, and Roll Tide!"
