Tuscaloosa’s Ice Skating Rink Moves to Government Plaza

Tuscaloosa’s Ice Skating Rink Moves to Government Plaza

The City of Tuscaloosa’s seasonal ice skating rink, formerly known as Holidays on the River, will move to Government Plaza this holiday season.

Under the new name of Holidays on the Plaza, this event will feature outdoor ice skating, the Tinsel Trail benefitting Tuscaloosa’s One Place, private parties, and other holiday festivities. The rink will open on November 22, and remain open until January 17.

“We are excited to move this festive event from the Tuscaloosa Amphitheater to Government Plaza,” says Director of Public Services, Stacy Vaughn. “With increased visibility and proximity to local businesses and restaurants, we hope to make this event more convenient to the community.”

Admission to Holidays on the Plaza is free, but guests must purchase skate passes to access the ice rink. Skate passes will go on sale November 1.

Birthday and corporate party rental packages are available now. To book a private party, fill out an event request form at holidaysontheplaza.com.
