The City of Tuscaloosa's 2026 Annual Water Quality Report confirms that the City’s drinking water continues to meet or exceed all federal and state water quality standards.

In 2025, Tuscaloosa’s Water Department recorded:

• Zero violations of EPA and state drinking water standards 
• Zero PFAS compounds (forever chemicals) detected
• 99.97% compliance with turbidity treatment standards  

Last year, Tuscaloosa Water treated 8.06 billion gallons of water. The City’s continued investments in advanced treatment technologies and system-wide infrastructure have increased operational efficiency and reduced risk across the network, positioning Tuscaloosa as a regional leader in water quality. Recently completed Water System Capital Improvement Projects include:

• Rehabilitation of Mercedes Tank completed in June 2025.
• Upgrade of Clements Road Booster Pump Station completed June 2025.
• Ed Love Raw Water Pump Station improvements completed in November 2025.

Maintaining quality begins before the treatment plant and continues after it enters the distribution system. Tuscaloosa Water performs tests and analysis on 3,000 water samples a year to monitor Tuscaloosa’s water source. Tuscaloosa Water’s Hydrant Flushing Program ensures high-quality drinking water throughout the 725 miles of water mains in the City’s distribution system.
