The City of Tuscaloosa Building and Inspection Division is dedicated to ensuring the safety, integrity, and sustainability of our built environment. We serve as stewards of public safety by enforcing building codes, zoning regulations, and development standards that protect the health and welfare of our residents, businesses, and visitors.

Our team provides comprehensive services including plan reviews, permitting, inspections, and code enforcement for both residential and commercial projects. We work closely with developers, contractors, homeowners, and other city departments to guide projects from concept to completion—ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.

Whether it’s a new home, a commercial development, or a historic renovation, we are committed to supporting responsible growth and preserving the character of Tuscaloosa. Through transparency, professionalism, and a customer-first approach, we help build a safer, stronger, and more vibrant community.
