City of Tuscaloosa Honors Employees at Second Annual Excellence Awards

City of Tuscaloosa Honors Employees at Second Annual Excellence Awards

On Friday, September 22, the City of Tuscaloosa held the second annual Employee Excellence Awards to recognize employees who went above and beyond in their departments as well as those with over 25 years of employment with the City.

"Our employees are the heart and soul of what we do every day," Mayor Walt Maddox said. "From protecting our neighborhoods and responding to rescue calls, to picking up our garbage and everything in between, they are the backbone of our city.”

In addition to the excellence and years of service awards, employees who received a Cheers for Peers award in the last year were recognized. The Cheers for Peers program was developed for employees to recognize fellow employees who show exemplary individual achievement, contribution and performance in their jobs.

"The Cheers for Peers program and the annual Employee Excellence Awards were both created to help recognize our dedicated employees for the hard work they do every day," LaShonda Kemp, Chief Human Resources Officer said. "We look forward to continuing this annual event to recognize our deserving team members."

In total, the City recognized over 65 employees during this event.
