City of Tuscaloosa Holds Year of Trails Sign Dedication

The City of Tuscaloosa held a dedication ceremony for the Year of Trails sign on the Tuscaloosa Riverwalk on Monday, June 30, at 9:30 a.m.

Tuscaloosa Mayor Walt Maddox and President of the Alabama Trails Foundation, Paul DeMarco spoke during the event.

“College students are choosing more than a campus when they choose their college, they’re choosing a community,” said Mayor Walt Maddox. “That’s why it’s imperative that we continue investing in quality of life and the Year of Trails initiative is a reflection of that.”

The Year of Alabama Trails is a statewide initiative from the Alabama Tourism Department and the Alabama Trails Foundation to ensure that the country and world know of Alabama’s outstanding network of trails.

“Trails like the Tuscaloosa Riverwalk build community,” said Paul DeMarco. “They give everyone an opportunity to get outside and experience the beauty that Alabama has to offer, and a trail like the Riverwalk lets people enjoy a little bit of quiet time in the middle of the bustle of Tuscaloosa.”

The new sign is located in Parker-Haun Park at 180 Greensboro Avenue. Learn more about the Year of Trails initiative here
