Office of Urban Development
The mission of the Office of Urban Development is to facilitate the preservation and enhancement of Tuscaloosa’s built environment through long-range comprehensive planning, while providing a one-stop service for development investment in the City. Our goal is to work with our project partners to ensure that every regulatory activity, from the conception of the idea to the completion of the project, is handled in an efficient, customer-oriented manner.
Due to concerns related to COVID-19, our Boards and Commissions have had to cancel meetings during the months of March and April; further cancellations may be necessary, as well. In order to clear the applications currently pending before these boards, Executive Order 2020-09 has temporarily suspended acceptance of new applications that would ordinarily be submitted. The Order remains in effect until May 14, 2020, but may be extended beyond that date by a subsequent Order if circumstances warrant such action.
Staff will still process pre-designs and pre-development meetings and be available to answer questions during this time.
