Community Involvement

TPD Citizen's Academy

Citizen’s Police Academy is a multi-faceted educational program designed to provide members of our community with the opportunity to gain specific knowledge about the philosophy and processes of the Tuscaloosa Police Department, as well as valuable insight into the field of law enforcement.

Class size is limited to 20.

Ride Along Program

The Ride-Along program allows interested citizens to accompany a patrol officer during a portion of their shift. Applicants must be at least 18, consent to a background check, and sign a non-disclosure form.

For more information, contact Briana Freeman at (205) 248-4831 or Briana.freeman@tuscaloosa.com

Active Shooter Response Training

An active shooter incident can happen in any place at any time. The best ways to make sure you and your loved ones stay safe are to prepare ahead of time and be ready. Register yourself or your business for active shooter response training and TPD's trained instructors will conduct a training session at your preferred location at no cost.
