City of Tuscaloosa Mayor Maddox Appoints Glenda Bumpus City Attorney

Tuscaloosa, Ala. – Glenda Bumpus has been named city attorney for the City of Tuscaloosa, effective Dec. 1. 

“I am excited about Glenda's appointment and the energy, enthusiasm and expertise that she brings to the Office of City Attorney,” said Walter Maddox, mayor of Tuscaloosa. 

As city attorney, Bumpus will serve as legal counsel to the City of Tuscaloosa departments and officials, draft contracts, ordinances and policies and monitor City policies for compliance with state and federal law. 

Bumpus earned her bachelor’s degree from the University of Montevallo and juris doctorate from The University of Alabama. She became a member of the Alabama State Bar in 1999, and served as an assistant district attorney for the 6th Judicial Circuit until 2001 when she joined Tuscaloosa’s Office of City Attorney.

She is president of the Alabama Association of Municipal Attorneys, is an alumna of the Alabama State Bar Leadership Forum Class 6, is a member of the Tuscaloosa County Bar Association and serves on the Tuscaloosa County Community Corrections Board.
