Kip Tyner is a Tuscaloosa native and a graduate of Tuscaloosa High School and the University of Alabama, where he earned a degree in Journalism. He is the owner of Kip Tyner Productions and previously served as Assistant Press Secretary to U.S. Senator John Sparkman. He hosts the daily television program Great Day Tuscaloosa, aired on Channel 21 and streamed on Facebook. Named Alabama’s Outstanding Young Man in 1986, Mr. Tyner is serving his seventh term on the City Council and his first as Council President. He has served extensively on committees, including as chair of both the Projects Committee and Public Safety Committee, and vice chair of the Finance Committee. He is an avid Alabama basketball fan and an active advocate for animal welfare, currently serving as Chair of the Metro Animal Shelter Advisory Committee.
